This is the Gold Coast Country Club new 9 hole competition known as the Friday on the deck!
This event will commence on Friday 5th March 2010. Tee off between 2pm and 3pm and register at the Pro Shop. Cost will be $10 per person which includes 9 hole competition, prizes, sausage sizzle and shared golf cart. You need to play with someone so invite another member who wants to enjoy a relaxing afternoon on the golf course. The competition will be played as a single stableford on the front nine holes (1 to 9). If you are not sure how to play this format please see note and bottom of this page.
After the round you hand your card to Club House bar staff, and then make your way to the back deck for a sausage sizzle. We ask everyone playing in this competition help out with the cooking of the BBQ each week so we can keep this event to a minimal cost. Thank you for your assistance. Once the last group has arrived back in the club house bar staff will tally up the cards and award the prizes.
Prizes - If there are 15 players or less there will only be a winner prize handed out. If 16 or more players contest the event there will be a winner and runner up awarded. All prizes will be a bar voucher which can be spent within the club house. In the event that two or more players end up with the best score, there will be NO count back. Instead it will be a chip off from the back deck to the 18th hole, one shot taken by each player with nearest
to the pin winning. A synthetic matt from the driving range will be placed on the back deck which will allow the chip off to declare the winner or runner up.
Handicaps - will be ½ of your AGU handicap, for example if you play of 15, ½ is 7.5 which is rounded up to 8. Only the winner of the day will have there handicap reduced (Please note this will not effect your AGU handicap, it will only be controlled by the GCCC staff) for example. If a player wins with 22 pts and played off a 9 hole handicap of 8, next week it would be 6. Because they played 4 better than par it is halved to two which then taken off the 8 handicap. This way everyone has a chance of winning. For everyone else they will get 1 added to their handicap to a maximum of 3 above their original 9 hole handicap.
Stableford Event - For example a player who has an AGU handicap of 18 would then get a 9 hole handicap of 9 which means they would get one shot per hole which will add one shot to the par value of each hole to determine his/her own par for that hole. Thus a hole rated as a par 4 becomes a par 5. The points scoring method is then calculated by allocating two points for his/her par, one point for one over, three points for one under, fours points for two under and so on. At the end of the round, all points scored are tallied. The player with the most points is the winner. Please insure your place your full name, date, handicap, markers signature and your signature on the card before handing it to bar staff.
